New update from GWR

Two strikes dates called by the RMT and TSSA are this Thursday (18th) and Saturday (20th). This includes on board and station staff from GWR, and signallers and managers at Network Rail.

A very limited train service will operate on both days, with a majority of the network having no service whatsoever. Disruption is also expected on Friday 19th, with a reduced level of service in place. Our advice to customers for all three days is make alternative travel arrangements, and only travel if necessary.

On Thursday and Saturday trains will start later and finish much earlier than normal, and on Friday and Sunday trains will start later following strike action on days preceding. Services that do run are expected to be extremely busy. Customers should check before they travel, and there is the possibility of further short-notice alterations or cancellations.

There is also strike action taking place on Transport for London on Friday, with Underground, Overground and London Buses affected.

Journey planners are in the process of being updated, Network Rail are working as fast as they can on this and they should be fully corrected as soon as possible.  In the meantime we are contacting customers who have booked journeys directly and using social and traditional media to highlight the changes. Full information on the impact of the strike dates, including when journey planners will be updated, is available at www.gwr.com/strike. We have also included detailed information for the impact on our services in your area here:

On Thursday 18th and Saturday 20th, no services will run between Oxford and Worcester/Hereford, or between Gloucester and Worcester.

On Friday 19th, we will be running a limited service which will start later than normal.
